Kikowaena means “center of the circle” in Hawaiian. What an appropriate phrase to describe the beauty that hooping has brought into my life. We are building a movement and building a brand here in Honolulu, so hopefully you will start seeing more hooping on Oahu! It was during Desert Dawn when all the hoopers came out, and I happened to be really close to the pedestal she was on. She was spinning double LED hoops and was wearing gold lame, and I knew I was in love. And that I had to learn how to do what she was doing. That was the moment that I decided to BE A HOOPER! </p> <p>And it’s nice to know that I’ve fulfilled that intention. I have made it a reality, and I can truly say that I’ve become a badass. And it was all because of her badassery. I still haven’t made it to Burning Man… One day.
