Kikowaena means "center of the circle" in Hawaiian. What an appropriate phrase to describe the beauty that hooping has brought into my life. We are building a movement and building a brand here in Honolulu, so hopefully you will start seeing more hooping on Oahu! This blog was made to promote our hooping, but also to spread beautiful photos and videos of other hoopers around the world.
It’s been a minute since I’ve been mini hooping, this is actually an old video and my poi hoop skills are much better since taking up actual poi spinning. But regardless, I couldn’t pass up making a video to celebrate 5 years using this glorious golden hour footage.
I rarely post videos of myself, and this one isn’t even hoopy! I’ve been more inspired by poi lately. I’ve been working on smoothing out my 360 degree turn with wall plane caps and split time antispin flowers. A few months ago, this was just an idea in my mind, and l worked my shoulders and arms hard in order to get here. Also, figuring out extensions with crossers is my next up.
So I guess this band Jungle is blowing up, despite their secrecy about their identity. I first heard this song on a radio show previewing bands at Coachella, so I guess they’ve made their US debut. Anyway, its pretty low-tech and mellow, but will a funky vocal track. I love the cheesy disco-y effects on it. And the rollerskating in the video…. so fresh!
