Kikowaena means "center of the circle" in Hawaiian. What an appropriate phrase to describe the beauty that hooping has brought into my life. We are building a movement and building a brand here in Honolulu, so hopefully you will start seeing more hooping on Oahu! This blog was made to promote our hooping, but also to spread beautiful photos and videos of other hoopers around the world.
After a weekend of Medicine of the People shows (two weekends ago) and nonstop dancing, I am so proud to love this music. I feel like all their fans feel a draw to spread this music! So fans, take a listen, especially if you’ve never heard of them, or only heard their big song Aloha Ke Akua. I love hooping to this song!
I want to start posting more music that I find inspiration in. If I like hooping to it, I’ll try to post it here. I think I have pretty cool taste in music, so hopefully this might inspire more hooping!
Lately, I’ve been exploring the world of indie pop (?) I guess. Anyway, not ever been a Lana Del Rey fan, until I heard this song.
Not hooping related, but Hawaii connection. I absolutely had to post this remarkable of one of my favorite flow friends Thomas from Hawaii, at Burning Man this year. He is my favorite high diving monkey man flow art wunderkind. His orbitals got real crazy real fast, and this photo, with the Man, and his face perfectly in the orbital… Superb!
"We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust swirling and dancing in the eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity."
From the amazing artists that brought you Aloha Ke Akua, this is my new favorite song on their new album Dark as Night. Please truly listen to the lyrics, because these words resonate so strongly with me right now. I want others to feel their power.
Aloha from Ginger and Jungle! We are representing the Zenith Artist Collective, a talented group of sassy fire and LED flow sisters. We are using our Synth hoops from LED Artistry, with a short cameo by my Citivacreationz minis. Suffice it to say, we love our LED hoops, and can’t wait to collaborate on a more intent level. This was a last minute thrown together kinda thing, but I think it turned out pretty darn nice. Mahalo for watching!
Not hooping related, but I gotta show love to the other wonderful dancers in Hawaii. This is the magnificent Tani Serene, a member of Shakti Dance Movement in Honolulu, HI. The photo was taken at Tribal Fest in CA.
